Spatial point processes and the projection method
The projection method obtains non-trivial point processes from higher dimensional Poisson point processes by constructing a random subset of the higher dimensional space and projecting the points of the Poisson process lying in that set onto the lower dimensional region. This paper presents a review of this method related to spatial point processes as well as some examples of its applications. ...
متن کاملDistance estimates for dependent thinnings of point processes with densities
In [Schuhmacher, Electron. J. Probab. 10 (2005), 165–201] estimates of the Barbour-Brown distance d2 between the distribution of a thinned point process and the distribution of a Poisson process were derived by combining discretization with a result based on Stein’s method. In the present article we concentrate on point processes that have a density with respect to a Poisson process, for which ...
متن کاملThe overall efficiency and projection point in network DEA
Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is one of the best methods for measuring the efficiency and productivity of Decision Making Units (DMU). Evaluating the efficiency of DMUs which have two or several stages by using the conventional DEA models, is equal to consider them as black box. This method, omits the effect of intermediate measure on efficiency. Therefore, just the first network inputs and t...
متن کاملFemtosecond photoelectron point projection microscope.
By utilizing a nanometer ultrafast electron source in a point projection microscope we demonstrate that images of nanoparticles with spatial resolutions of the order of 100 nanometers can be obtained. The duration of the emission process of the photoemitted electrons used to make images is shown to be of the order of 100 fs using an autocorrelation technique. The compact geometry of this photoe...
متن کاملSome Estimates for a Weighted L2 Projection
This paper is devoted to the error estimates for some weighted L projections. Nearly optimal estimates are obtained. These estimates can be applied to the analysis of the usual multigrid method, multilevel preconditioner and domain decomposition method for solving elliptic boundary problems whose coefficients have large jump discontinuities.
